Obverse (Front):
Features a composite Native American profile based on three real individuals: likely Iron Tail (Sioux), Two Moons (Cheyenne), and possibly John Big Tree (Seneca), though Fraser never confirmed definitively.
Bold “LIBERTY” inscription along the rim.
Year “1913” placed just beneath the neck.
Reverse (Back):
A standing American bison (often called a buffalo, hence the nickname).
Modeled after Black Diamond, a bison from the Central Park Zoo in New York.
“FIVE CENTS” appears prominently on a raised mound of dirt beneath the buffalo.
“UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM” arch around the top.
